I just picked up an older Softride that was a lightly used demo bike.
I believe the bike is from 1998.it is a "century" model
It is a steel frame w/ carbon beam
it is full rx 100 group.

my first question is does anyone have any experience w/ this bike?
what steel is the frame made out of ?
is the rx 100 a decent component level? this bike is not for racing but for long road rides in the ozarks.

As much experience i have in cycling this is only my second road bike, so I am not a road wizard....

Never ridden a softride, but the technology's been around long enough that it probably works pretty well by now. Mostly I associate them with the Tri set. I think if you're putting in long miles on rough roads you'll be pretty happy with the frame.

As for the components, they're pretty low end--about the equivalent of straight Deore or even a little lower. Ride them, and upgrade as you wear them out/break them.
