I currently run my second Monster T and absolutley love it.....however I do realize it is very heavy and have been having thoughts about trying an 888 RC, does anybody in the 225lbs range have some thoughts on the fork, or should I just not mess with a good thing?

the 888 is a good fork for us bigger guys. its stiff, fairly light, and over all a good fork. personnally though i love the safe feel that a monster gives you even though i don't own one i have ridden many. personnally if you have the older 7" monster i would stay with it but if you have teh new monster i would get the 888. the new monster is just too heavy for what it gets you, the old monster was a better fork!

I'm way above the 225lb mark and the 888 has held up great for me. I love the fork... better than the monster by a longshot... More travel and lighter, best of both worlds.

I weight more than you and I've been pretty happy with last years super t. i got the extra stiff springs in it and it feels pretty good.

getting Xtreme !
actually for 2005 the RC replaces the R... it is not a glorified jr.T... you re prolly thinking of the VF... i used to run an 02 monster and last month i picked up an 05 888 RC... i weigh the same as you.. only had the chance to put one day on it so far cause all the parks here are closed and the weather has been crappy... but after a little tinkering i m pretty stoked.. i m pretty sure that next season, with some more tweaking i can get it perfect... i run mine with rissie crowns... great set up

In 04 there was the 888 R( the good one)
888 RT(bogus one)
and a rare OEM only 888 that only had a rebound adjuster-saw one on a demo 9.Don't recall the name on the sticker.

For 05 there os the 888RC(same as 04 R, but i guess they changed the name to reflect the Rebound and Compression adjustments.)
And there is The 888VF (Jr T type damper)

Hope that clarifies things.

So if your a big dude get the RC and 2 heavy springs, ride it and then consider the 'compression sleeve' if you need more compression damping.
