so i'm in kitchen etc today, browsing through their stuff as they are liquidating everything and there are good deals to be had. i briefly stopped in yesterday but it was pretty mobbed, and the santuko knives were all gone (they did have a kyocera ceramic chef's knife but even w/ the discount it was more than i wanted to spend). anyway, i went in today to get some odds and ends, and found these really great black, square plates from Mikasa. they had just 4 complete plate sets left, and one of them was in a mis-matched box. i went outside to find a cart (they were at a premium), loaded the boxes in, and continued looking around. it was a pain to navigate the aisles w/ the cart, so i adopted a guerilla warfare style of leaving the cart in the open area and darting around the various parts of the store.

after 5 or so minutes, i come back for my cart (keep in mind the store is NOT that big), and some arsenugget stole the damn thing! i checked all over the store looking for the culprit, or at least to find the plates stashed somewhere if all they wanted was the cart. no luck, the bastards took my stuff.

:mumble:

dude, there's no need to rant at people. in fact, i think you've got a little to learn in the art of shopping--i've had a childhood of learning with 3 sisters to learn that in a discount bargain store, you've gotta defend your sh1t like your life depended on it. sorry to hear about your loss.

if that ever happens again, when you find the person, tell them calmly that stuff's yours... they might have thought that a clerk was doing something. hey, it's possible.

Top ten ways to recognize a metrosexual:

10. They go to Kitchens etc.

9. For a liquidation sale.

8. Where they know knives by brand names.

7. Two different brand names mind you.

6. But they're not available so they come back later for other things. Its a sale after all.

5. They also recognize Mikasa as a brand name.

4. And describe what color they are.

3. And what shape they are.

2. As if plates are all that exciting.

1. And they rant about it on a public forum when some savvy housewife outsmarts them.

that sounds like a neato store. at the moment, i'm drooling over cookware sets. mmmmm....stainless steel. but at $400-$500 for 8pc sets, i won't be investing any time soon.

i would've been pissed, too.

after getting a couple of all-clad pieces, we actually got a set of the emerilware cookware. yeah, he's a loudmouth douche and all, but the price was great and it's good stuff. pretty much the same construction as all-clad but half the price. take a look at it.

so the emeril stuff is good? cool. i thought it was just crap stuff with a name on it to justify a price increase.

Hey, Kitchen Etc was a cool store! Bummer they are going out of business. That's where MBC and I registered for most of our wedding gifts.

And Narlus, NEVER leave your cart unattended at a liquidation sale.

Whenever I need new plates I order a pizza. I rip apart the cardboard pizza box while eating the pizza and save the paper plates for when I have company. If I ask they will also drop off some plastic knives and forks, not to mention free napkins.
