Im gonna buy new brakes for my Jack Flash frame, and ive decided on hope mono brakes, they would fit in so nicely in the colour theme on the bike :)

But i need some advice on which ones to get, the bike is built mainly as a looker, but i do ride it now and then and when i do its only street/urban related riding. The pic ive included is not updated, but imagine a DRS guide and hookworms and there you have it.

My decision is gonna be made between Mono M4 or Mono mini's..

The extra power from the M4 model is not really needed, and this is purely a decision thats gonna be based on what looks best on the bike. What speaks for the Mini's is the lower price, and the more elegant look of the brakes 2 piston design. What speaks for the M4 is the big bad look, that is also a part of the bike, the wheels, bars and cranks are big bad and beautiful ;)

Its going towards the mini's, but please, throw in your advice on what you think look the best :)

Im not gonna switch the brakes from this bike, so M4's for the sake of being a more versitile brake isnt a valid reason for the brake :) I have enduro4's for that purpose!

thanks for your input!

Well you'll already know what a larger caliper will look like on that bike, however for its intened purpose, why play games!!!!! Go with the M6's;)

Actually the Monos would be perfect on that bike looks and performance wise.

lol, the m6's are out of the question mainly coz of the prize and overkill

seriously Brian, what would you have put on it? or did you mean mono mini when you said "mono"?

Asking which parts to buy based only on looks?
This post doesn't even deserve a response. Go ride your bike

yes its based only on looks since both brakes are capable components and i need help choosing between them. I like them both alot, i just need help choosing which of them that looks best on the bike. Becouse after judging them back and forth money contra power etc it has come down to looks. Thats where im stuck.

I heard those brakes have a lot of spiking; I'd avoid them

Seriously, though, I'll stay out of the "this is a stupid question" mode and say that the best solution for your intent is probably to put a 4pot up front and a 2 in the back...or else just get the minis on both ends.

thanks for the serious advice tho

people dont seem to have understood that i have already considered every other aspect other than the looks. i dont see whats wrong with having a good bike that looks good too..

Smoking hot chick sees Grimm on his bike with Minis and says:

"Ooooohhh, too bad, if only that dude had M4s I would take him around the back of the 7-11 and screw him silly. Maybe next time he'll ask the brilliant minds on Ridemonkey for advice on bike fashion. Oh well, guess I'll call Kadvang and WCH again, their bikes are hot..."

Yeah, and like so many before you we reserve the right to have a little fun with you. Don't take it so seriously. Honestly, most of us care more about performance than looks, but looks are important too. But it pretty damn funny that you want opinions on which of those two brakes looks better - they're pretty much the same!!

very well, i wont take it so seriously then.. but my point is the performance has been considered already, they are both great brakes, and would both be great performers on my bike, so naturally looks comes next.. and like you say, they are very similar looking, and therefor hard for me to choose :( funny or not..

I think it's the "naturally" part that is so amusing to some of us. You assume we all care about looks as much as you apparently do, and it's just not true. Nobody wants a bike that looks like a turd, but it's funny to me that you want opinions on something that is 100% personal preference.

You've done the research into the product, now make the fashion decision based on what YOU like.

Just having a little fun at your expense to get the point across. No worries, it comes around...

It is pretty funny that of all the items to consider for looks' sake, you'd focus on brakes...and at that, two brakes that are pretty much identical all told.

It's conceivable that someone would choose Hope over Hayes based on looks (and a perception of quality based on the beautiful CNC work vice lumpy magnesium castings...I know that's what drew me to Hope as my first brakes), but you're talking about a single piston's difference in the brakes here.

It's a hardtail...just get the minis!

The mini's it is.

OGRipper, im ok if people make fun at my expense as long as its just FUN.. and i wanted to know what other people think looks good too, not to dictate my decision, but to guide it. that was my only intention with this thread.

But just forget about it now, my decision is made :)
