Some thoughts on gay pride (and why I'm against it)

So when was the last time cops raided a gay club and beat people up?
State-sponsored violence against homosexuals in Zimbabwe

Good thing we're so much better in the US, since it's not state sponsored.

Violence against homesexuals in the US.

While I'm at it, as soon as network and mainstream cable channels start airing programming of gay men specifically designed to encourage them to exploit themselves sexually on air, I'll agree with you that the US has accepted homosexuality on the same level as heterosexuality:

MTV Spring Break
Anything For Love
Are You Hot
The Bachelor(ette)
Bret Michaels: Life as I Know It.
For Love Or Money
Temptation Island

Shall I go on?

I'll like to try a therapy on mooshoo called corrective rape, but in this instance it wont be rape to make him straight, well try and rape the dumb out of him. and by "we" I mean anyone whose willing to step up and take one for the team or has the money to pay someone who will.
Wow. Dude, line crossed, even for this forum.

This is my biggest complaint about your logic.

Your opinion about near-naked men on a parade float are not the best representatives, I would have to agree with.

But the fact that gays are accepted enough that they are not persecuted is not something which magically happened because society decided to evolve.

This happened shortly before you were born, but the White Nights Riots was just 25 miles from where you live, just a few neighborhoods over for me.

There was violence and bloodshed to get to our current enlightened state where the penalty for killing gay politicians is not 5 years.

I can't agree with your logic that open displays of "gay behavior" hurt their acceptance because of my knowledge of the struggle for gay rights.

In the 30's my grandfather had to change his last name to get a job or an apartment in Los Angeles. There were signs at apartments no dogs no cats no Jews.. we were the niggers and fags of that period. Nothing has changed except that its a different group being discrimated against that just wants the ability to be themselves and have equal footing....

What goes on in other countries is not America, I know all about that **** going down in parts of Africa, it's a humanitarian travesty through and through

Yes, there are occasional incidence of voilence against gays, haven't there been come recent temple shootings that come to mind as well. Gays can walk the streets today without fear of a billy club from a cop as was sadly the case in the not so recent past here

Apparently hearing something and understanding something are 2 different things. Though noticing correlation has been awfully hard for you in this topic so I dont blame ya.

add to this list: "assless chaps", unless you mean straight-up-and-down-six-and-twelve-oclock britons
Chaps are, by definition, assless. Otherwise they'd be pants. Or maybe crotchless pants.

The Onion said:
"My understanding was that gay people are just like everybody else–decent, hard-working people who care about their communities and have loving, committed relationships," Weber said. "But, after this terrifying spectacle, I don't want them teaching my kids or living in my neighborhood."
The funniest part of this entire clusterfvck of a thread is that while there is a valid point to be made, Mooshoo can't make it.

The ONLY valid point is "ghey = icky" and it's still more of an opinion than a valid point.

There was a quote on fb the other day:
If you beat off more than twice to lesbian porn, you are no longer allowed to object to gay marriage.

No, I agree with Dante. A discussion about the most effective method of fighting for gay rights could be productive and to be honest you cant be sure parades may not be them. Though I no longer see them as a way of fighting.

I get it and I agree. Any chance to flame in public is taken advantage of in Portland. But then again, in some parts of the world, Portland is considered ghey'er than SF.

It's like basing soccer fans on hooligans, or hokey fans after they win/lose and riot. Extremes exist everywhere. At least gays are less likely to flip cars and set sh!t on fire.

I'm coining the term gaytriot based on this thread, but can't decide how I want to use it in context.

I'll leave it up to you folks.

^^^^^ I'm assuming you didn't post the picture that's the 1st one in the group since it might have been NSFW?

(and probably would have made the exact point Moosheu was trying to make in the first place?)

or this one?

I'm sure that a guy in a gimp mask and speedo being led around on a leash helps advance the LGBTOMFGWTF crowd somehow...
