My wife and I are leaving for China to get our daughter the first of June and we want to be able to post pictures and a little commentary about how stuff is going.

I'd like some cheap (read that to mean free) creation software and a decent tutorial / FAQ available on-line. I've got the webspace free with our roadrunner account and they recommend not using Frontpage due to FTP problems. I have Microsoft office and know that I can create basic pages in Word. Is that the same as creating them in Frontpage?

I also know that I need FTP software.

Again, this is going to be a complete barebones endeavour as I don't want to spend a ton of time doing this while in China with my new daughter.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Webshots would be the easiest if you just wanted to post photos otherwise, by far the easiest and cheapest solution would be to start a blog at blogger.com. They have a lot of great templates now and it's really easy.
