You want someone to + rep someone for you because you bought a Volvo they talked you into?
Normally I'd slap them with a fish for such an offense, but whatever floats your boat...

He didn't talk me into it, I said I was looking for exactly that and he found it.

It was at first look, but further digging made sense of it. Basically it had a bunch of owners, but it was the result of it getting leased, taken back on lease, sold, then the woman who had it got a divorce, her ex got the car, and he just sold it immediately.

I dig it.
But I like wagons.
Looking at getting a cheap wagon to replace my old Ford van soon.

HAB, posted pics of the new ride on the Shop board.

Want a '96 850 wagon with 192k? All it needs is a steering rack, power steering pump, brakes all around, a parking brake, and some electrical work.

I'm very much in favor of base model vehicles, my Outback is a basic and the wife's Accord is an SE. We haven't missed any of the options that, aside from the engine, where mostly cosmetic.

And no options at all. There are plenty of more desirable Volvos around. The manual transmission was the important one though.

I bought a 2007 XC70 last year. I have always been a big fan of wagons. I didn't even know they sold the manual in the US. Less options less that can go wrong. I am enjoying life under warranty until June next year.

I'm not complaining. Less **** to break.

They did sell some manuals in the US, but finding them blows. There aren't many. That, and everyone in the NE went all "OMFG must have AWD" and bought the XC.

I love those cars. I almost bought one.
A little suburban mom, but very comfortable. The seats are the best I've ever sat in.
I think that may be the only one I've ever seen with cloth seats. In the PNW at least, leather heated is standard.

l "OMFG must have AWD" and bought the XC.
The AWD is nice to have but I could have survived with good tires and front wheel drive. However I like the XC70 more for the extra ground clearance for the crappy NYC roads and the added plastic to protect from the crappy NYC drivers.

Seat are good but I wish there was more side support for my skinny ass but American cars seems to get more couch seat vs. what you can get in Europe. The best seat I have tried are the BMW comfort seats in my boss's car with active side adjustment, heated and cooled and only an 2100 Dollar option

Still interesting how wagons still have a lot of stigma in the US while they get tons of love in Europe where you can get all kinds of cool wagons even crazy versions like BMW M5 wagon and Audi RS6. I think once you stuff a V10 in a wagon it does not say soccer mom too much anymore.

Holy crap, throw in a coolant leak and that's almost the exact list of items that failed on my Jeep Liberty, all within a 2 week window pretty much. I'll blame it on the shindagin roads. 140,000 miles was more than I expected from it, so I was fine parting ways. Driving an impreza wagon now - bike still fits in the back with the seats down, +10mpg. And I can reach the roof rack with my feet firmly planted on the ground.

Sweet, sounds like an upgrade.

You need to stop having kids so we can ride sometime. I've seen you, what, once this summer? I'm leaving in 3 weeks, what's your schedule like?

My wife just can't resist my sexy biker bruises. But I'm 99% sure we're done in the kid department.

Riding Shinny tomorrow...probably 4ish. Been doing a lot of night rides, starting around 8pm after the kiddos get to sleep. Jenksville and Oakley are both in great shape. I know, probably doesn't work well with your evenin' pimpin' job.

But you should come over and help me fix my dead Juicy 7 lever sometime. :)

Yeah, evenings are bad. But I could blow off work one of these nights and ride. The 8pm thing I can do, I'd just need to skip out a little early.

Cute car. You plan on coaching a little girl's soccer team soon?
Any POC with a manual trans is better than 99.9% of what most 'Mericans drive. Oh yeah, wagons rule.

Disclaimer: My dream car is a chopped 240 wagon with a modern turbo-charged (diesel?) 4banger.
