Mortar Attack Kills One Near Italy's Baghdad Embassy -- "Insurgents have attacked the area around the Italian embassy several times in recent months, mostly causing only minor damage. Im not sure you know what I do for a living, but these are DoD numbers I have. They didnt come from a chainletter.
If the source is credible, why did you not cite it? Posting random numbers without citation is a diservice to your argument. Add to that the funny little hatch marks down the left side and I'm sure you can understand why I mistakenly thought "chainletter, cut-n-paste". It bloody well looks exactly like one. Which was the point of my link - I was not intending to directly confront each factoid. And what does your employer have to do with anything?
But about your point of press negativity:
/Rant
Yes, bad sh1t sells. But more importantly, freedom of the press is a constitutional right for a reason. It's an essential part of the checks and balance system and the press corps has a civic duty to do the governments laundry in public. Negativity gets old, fair enough. But that negativity is an important part of the eternal vigilance equation that keeps us free.

I think he works for the DoD.... He is the source....kinda.
Bad news sells....checks and balances are good (though I thought that was a government thing not a press thing).....reporting on the negative governemental news soley can start to equate to a bias, right?
When all you look for is the bad.....that is all you will see. ~ Da Horn
Reporing only on the negatives events happening (in Iraq) does not keep us free, it produces/shows a bias....maybe a personal agenda? I am not saying don't report it, but often any news that can be considered good news is down played or bumped for some footage of a 7yo boy dragging a mangled bumper across the street for a car bomb that happened 2 days ago.
I google'd "Journalistic and ethics" and my computer crashed
They list examples of things journalist should do after the items listed below....I only copy the titles of each section for brevity. Interesting to see how an organization sees its own profession.
Members of the Society of Professional Journalists believe that public enlightenment is the forerunner of justice and the foundation of democracy. The duty of the journalist is to further those ends by seeking truth and providing a fair and comprehensive account of events and issues. Conscientious journalists from all media and specialties strive to serve the public with thoroughness and honesty. Professional integrity is the cornerstone of a journalist's credibility. Members of the Society share a dedication to ethical behavior and adopt this code to declare the Society's principles and standards of practice
Seek Truth and Report It -
Journalists should be honest, fair and courageous in gathering, reporting and interpreting information.
Minimize Harm -
Ethical journalists treat sources, subjects and colleagues as human beings deserving of respect.
Act Independently -
Journalists should be free of obligation to any interest other than the public's right to know.
Be Accountable -
Journalists are accountable to their readers, listeners, viewers and each other.
Originally posted by narlus so why are only americans (and perhaps israelis) targeted? when was the last time a norweigan, irish, peruvian, greek, (fill in the blank) embassy was overtaken? what is the root cause? could it be our foreign policies?
So would most of you agree that a simple way to stop this all is to come up with an alternative to GASOLINE that we don't have to import.
If it weren't for oil, the middle east would be just like eastern europe and africa. We don't mess with them, they don't mess with us.
2.) set up puppet gov. with leader that will provide all US foreign policy objectives.
3.) watch as he turns into a tyrant, kills his own people, sh!ts on everyones human rights but do nothing....
4.) as soon as he pisses the US off or somehow fvcks up a market where US indutries stand to make money, you charge him with being anti democratic or bring up old human rights violations that the US knew where going on all along and INVADE!!!!!!!!!!!!
