Felt has been named by Belle & Sebastian as an important influence, which has probably given them more publicity and record sales than any time in their ten year existence, which was snuffed out in '90, after leader Lawrence (no surname, please) fulfilled his 'ten years, ten records' mission. the brittle guitar music of the early days changed to more of a jazzed-up feel towards the end, mainly due to membership changes (and the addition of martin duffy on hammond organ). they certainly did hit some major high points (their biggest hit was 'primitive painters', featuring Cocteau Twin Liz Frasier on vocals) but never found the fame Lawrence was searching for. all their stuff has been reissued, and i highly recommend 1986's _Forever Breathes The Lonely Word_...stunning record.
