sorry i was late today...too involved w/ the ongoing camera threads...

today's selection is from a modern-day troubadour who could easily sling Woody Guthrie's slogan-covered guitar ("this machine kills fascists") and uphold the legacy. in fact, he was a crucial element in the _Mermaid Avenue_ cds, along w/ Wilco, which took existing lyrics from Woody and created music for them.

Billy Bragg is all that and more, but he's also got a non-political side as evidenced by this love song. additional guitar by The Smiths' Johnny Marr, and i think backing vocals provided by Kirsty MacColl.

Greetings To The New Brunette

I'm not a big fan of Billy Bragg but the lyrics are pretty good.

There's a line in the song that reminds me of Frank Sinatra for some reason.

"oops there goes another pint of beer" - Bragg

"opps there goes another million kilowatt dam" - Sinatra
