pretty obvious choice today...an all-american band singing about america (no, not the Springsteen tune)...X made a somewhat surprise return last year w/ the original lineup (billy zoom had moved on before _See How We Are_, and tony gilkyson and Blasters dave alvin had filled in for a few records), and they sounded great when i saw 'em last december. this selection is more of a poignant musing, not the haunting dirge of classics like "White Girl" or the pounding rock of stuff like "The Hungry Wolf" or "In This House That I Call Home". if you've not experienced the glorious off-key harmonies of John Doe and Exene, or the white-hot rockabilly riffs of Billy Zoom, check out the 1st 3 records; they are a cornerstone of american music.
