no rambling monologue today...and this wasn't what i was going to originally put here (was to be Thee Mighty Caesars, from their stellar _Beware the Ides of March_ lp, a fitting choice on this day, that can wait another year).

back when double gatefold live lps were a defacto release, this ranks as one of the best. opening cut sets the tone; you can hear the sweat drippin' and the jack daniels sloshing on stage.

this is for MMike.

Perfect. The best song used in the Standard Country bikey video.

Kinda disappointed with this one. While I do enjoy some Skynyrd every now and again, the thing I really like about the SOTD threads is that they introduce me to bands I've never heard of. Granted, there's no way to tell who's heard of what bands, but it's a safe bet that most people have heard Skynyrd before.

hey - it's your thread, do what you want with it. That's just my opinion, one out of about 10,000 opinion flying around here. I certainly don't expect you to cater to me, I just thought it was a missed opportunity.

But if you do stick with lesser known bands, I give you :thumb: :thumb:

also, in my defense i went to see a band last night and didn't get home and in bed until 1:30, so i was dragging a bit today.

i brought my camera and got a few decent shots, so maybe tomorrow you will get some new zealand pop goodness. although RM as a whole doesn't seem too into singer/songwriter and pop stuff...i will see what i can do to change that line of thinking.

one last note...i did put up a tune from Pink Floyd last saturday, one which probably not a lot of people have heard. i kinda view this little exercise as getting good songs out there, and if that exposes a particular artist to a new audience, that's cool. but it's very hard to try to pick a single representative song from an entire oeuvre, if not downright impossible. so i will definitely reserve the right to place unknown or alternate version of songs from well-known bands.

I'm sorry, are you implying that you participate in illegal activities?

Awwww shucks!

I missed this one..... I do appreciate the thought!

(I'm on a crappy assed, UNIX w/s running a windows shell....with no sound, won't play mpegs, barely opens jpegs.....and I can't download anything because of the company firewall...... AND I am rarely on-line at home anymore because of the small, yet amazingly noisy and demanding beings that occupy my house these days)

But THIS one I will download when I get home....

Bite your tounge I love singer songwriter stuff as much as anything!!! I appreciate a lot of different kinds of music... and I appreciate your efforts and commitment to putting music up here to expose us to!!! there are a few music styles I like less than others but I won't not give a listen to something you have taken the time to post... and I bet many on here feel the same way!!! so post up stuff and don't worry about trying to please the masses!!!:thumb:

BTW... I posted a story on the sotd from coral and I dont know if you saw it... let me know!!!
