running late, so there won't be a big preamble...My Bloody Valentine successfully bridged the gap from twee UK pop band to stunningly loud racket maker, heaping huge swaths of fuzz and texture, while the song's pop bones, though afflicted by rickets, still shone through if you had a strong enough x-ray machine.

from the same-titled EP before they'd go on to their widely acclaimed masterworks, Isn't Anything and Loveless. in fact, Loveless was so good, leader Kevin Shields has been in artistic paralysis/block for the last 15 year.
