i am going on another hiatus, but i leave w/ a fractured american genius...he goes by a variety of names but is best known as Kool Keith. i've played a track from his 1st outing, Ultramagnetic MCs, but he really took off w/ the '97 pairing of Dan Nakamura (aka Automator) for the Dr Octagon project, Dr. Octagon - [1997] Dr. Octagonecologyst. fusing graphic anatomical references w/ b-movie sci-fi imagery, Keith was at his best lyrically, and on the decks Automator was leaving nothing to chance. truly a landmark record. :trophy_br
Keith's not reached those heights again (though there have been some good efforts), but he's resurrected the doctah. on 1st listen it's not nearly as good (it's a leak, and i don't have any info but sounds like Automator is not involved; hell, it sounds like there are a few rappers on the record in addition to Keith), but this song in particular did really grab me. hell, i'm not even sure if Keith's on this track even. :wonky2:
A Gorilla Driving A Pickup Truck
so given that, i've decided to slip in a bonus portion for today as well:
Blue Flowers
