Golden Smog played earlier this week, and while i didn't go see 'em, they have some good stuff and got me interested in the bands of the one of the members, The Jayhawks (for those who don't know, the Smog is a side project, consisting of members of the aforementioned Jayhawks, Soul Asylum, Run Westy Run and Wilco).

it's pretty standard singer-songwriter but in a band format that got tagged years ago as alt.country, but the singing's good, the playing's strong, and the melody hook of the bridge ('it was not lost on me') is really great. in other words, great little tune. enjoy.

If it was posible for me to say "this is my favorite ...... *insert food type, song, band, vehicle here....*" the Jayhawks would be my favorite band! I just cant peg favorites like some people can... I can say this is my favorite in this genre etc.

I love the Jayhawks, I have been lucky enough to see them 2 times just prior to their (now extended) break.

I think their album "the sound of lies" is their best, and has some of the best production of any of their stuff. Every time I listen to that album, I here new little intricate things going on that I missed on prior listenings!

I LOVE THIS BAND and wish they would tour again!
