Neko Case is attractive, she's got a good voice, and sings w/ indie pop sensations The New Pornographers, so if you've managed to hear the name before, there is a groundswell of activity which could have contributed to that. or maybe the last issue of Redheads Quarterly did the trick. anyhow, she's lumped into that great lumpen bracket of alt.america, which these days means that either an acoustic guitar, a D-A-G chord progression, or a hank williams tape was present in the studio when the record was made.

to tell you the truth, her stuff is a bit bland for me, but this song off the new record is quite well done.

congrats as always Narlus... Your song of the day has become one of my web favs. It's reassuring to know that there are people out there who are bigger music snobs (meant as a compliment... some say snob, some say afficionado) than I am.

i like this one. good chords, well at least trying to be different. F min: I--- vi - iii- I--- vi --- iii--- vi --- iii------ I. the whole "hold on, hold on, holdonholdon" thing works pretty well. catchy especially with the mimickry at 1:16 with the half-step "warbles". also at 1:44, 1:48... with 1:52 mixing it up to a whole step. good writing.

this one's definitely staying on the playlist.

fun fact of the day: "neko" is "cat" in japanese.
