the Straitjacket Fits were Shayne Carter's 3rd band, and probably best one, though it petered out as he tried to take the sound a bit too mainstream, in an effort to sell more records i'd reckon. for me, the 1st two (well, 1st EP and 1st proper lp) are the killer bits of the SJF catalog, combining dueling guitars and his sneering vocals, while nicely counter balanced by andrew brough's pop sensibilities. i was fortunate enough to see them play i think 3 times, which is pretty good for a band from a tiny country about 10,000 miles away from me. they always delivered the goods live.
