Big Dipper was probably my favorite local band when i first settled in boston...always great fun to see live, and they put out some great records too. i'd not known any of their previous bands (most notably The Embarrassment or early versions of other great local bands like Volcano Suns and Dumptruck) before i'd seen them play, but duly made my way to the used bins in search of cheap vinyl.

angular pop is probably the best description; lazy writers might pull the dreaded 'college rock' tag out but that would damn them unfairly. i think that all their stuff is out of print; the two Homestead cds are the ones worth seeking; the major label debut/swansong Slam isn't all that good, but you could probably find it for less than a dollar

here's a song from lp #2, Craps

The Insane Girl

Man, they make that download link a little hard to see . Downloads are slower from there, too. Just FYI.

Nice track, though. :thumb:

Thanks as always!

yeah, i'd sent a zipped file over 100MB via sendspace, which YSI doesn't support and the window was still open, so i used it.

thanks for the feedback; i'll stick w/ YSI.

I think I saw them with Love Tractor before.

Was not Scruffy the Cat a Boston band?
