Id like to know the story behind that even if its as boring as it just snapped! WOW thats scary!
I understand anything can break and may have had an underlying issue from a previous crash but yIKES!
Dude is a buddy of mine. He was about 15 laps into the race when he hit a 6' ish drop (for the 15th time) and the stem snapped on landing. Said it hurt. Fork did suffer some damage further down, but the pic just shows scratch/smudge.
He rides/races hard (fast Cat I) but does that mean this should happen? Stem was new this season. He hasn't had a 'catastrophic' crash. He rode a Zoke integrated stem for the previous 3 seasons without a problem.
26 (is it Darren?) did set him up with a new stem, but I doubt he'll run it after this.
Love the protapers rode em mx for years and had them on all my bikes till the latest. Still have a bar sitting at the shop. Itll probably be going back on, never let me down and take tons of abuse.
I dig the gold as well as that stem is pretty sweet, congrats and good luck this year!

This thread has the most responses so I'll ask here...
Anybody have experience on the Easton havoc non35mm stem? Price point has them for 50, but the only commentary I've found said they bent on a crash like the twenty6 above.
My other options are a RF atlas or twenty6 redesigned stem for about the same price. Any commentary on either of those? Everything seems to be 6061...
