Do something positive for trails in your area. Help out on a trail that is actually legal to bike, and try to keep it that way. Here is your chance to stop bitching and do something.

Offical Invitation:

Trailworkers,

On Sunday, November 28th we continue our yearly trail work in the Soquel
Demonstration State Forest. We have all been hiking and riding the trails
all year and this is our chance to show our appreciation to the California
Department of Forestry for being able to share these trails.

We are meeting at the parking lot on Highland, across the steel bridge at
8:30 AM on Sunday, November 28th. Our objective for the day is to complete
construction of a new trail alignment that will bypass the steep hike up
section at the end of the Ridge Trail. We will shuttle workers from the
parking lot on Highland to the bottom of Tractor Trail; workers will then
hike in to the work site. Depending on conditions, some trailworkers may
skip the shuttle and elect to ride to the trailwork site. Bring your bike
if you want to ride. Bob trailers will be provided.

You should bring long pants and sleeves, plenty of water, and lunch or a
snack you can carry with you on the trail. I will bring work gloves to
loan if you have none. The Stewards of Soquel Forest will provide coffee
and something for your sweet tooth. Our start time is 9:00am, and will
work until 2:00 or so. From there, some will go for a ride, and others
will stay and clean tools.

Please sign up at www.trailworkers.com so I know how many tools to
bring, or email Nigel at nigel.ray@durect.com if you have any
questions. Our work schedule for the year has been posted to the
Trailworkers website, so if you cannot make this weekend, you should go
there and sign up for another day instead.

IMBA's rule of thumb is to give 20/20/20 each year, referring to local
member dues, national member dues, and hours in the field making the
outdoors a better experience for everyone. This is your opportunity to add
a few hours toward completing your annual trailwork requirements.

Man, I'm stuck in Iowa for Thanksgiving holliday till Monday. I would have loved to get in on this. Are there other chances for trailwork at Demo? Is there some way to find out about them with more advance notice?

Howdy all,
It was a good trail day. We finished up a new singletrack. There is an unclimbable section just before Ridge Trail turns into Sawpit. We finished off a singletrack bypass that lets you stay on your bike instead of hike-a-biking up the steep face. And for those of you concerned that we are neutering the trail, we left the old alignment open. I don't know anyone that's actually made it up the steep section, but I do know quite a few people who try it every time.

Sean,
A few people did ride to the worksite, then rode back out. Combining work with fun. I was to tired to ride by the end of the day, but I have done it before.

Benton,
There is a really good website that lists all the trailwork days in the area: www.trailworkers.com
The next work day in Soquel Demonstration Forest is December 12th.

Scott,
Cool, I'm glad that some people turned out and got some great work done! I rode Henry Coe on Sat. and had to work sunday all day so I didn't get to make it out. I know...excuse's are like assholes... :D

A couple of friends of mine have made it up that climb, but I still think it's gonna be sweet to have an option. Thanks guys! If I didn't live 3 hrs away, I would be there helping out. Later, I'm gonna go ride some really rocky trails.

I can't believe anyone has made it up that climb in the last 2 years. More power to you. I rode the new trail yesterday with some friends. Really nice! Thank you to everyone who helped work on it!

I just signed up for the trail day on the 12th.

I've never ridden SDF, but I figured this would be a good way to check things out.

Hopefully I can meet some of you.
