I’m writing this with a great sadness in my heart. I was notified this morning by my Mom that my Uncle had been arrested two days ago.

“For what I sad”, knowing that this law abiding, kind hearted man would never end up in a situation that would warrant an arrest.

She then said, “You’re never going to believe this, but apparently he was discussing this country’s current state of affairs on an internet forum, had a few choice words to say about ‘you know who’ and his loyal administration, and the feds came and locked him up for terroristic activity”.

Take in mind that this 300lb 60 year old gentle giant was an extremely honest, out spoken, sensitive man that wore his heart on his sleeve. He has done know one harm and never would. He was a humanitarian that lived a very humble life as a Petco employee.

My Mom then went on to tell me that he was brought in two days ago, interrogated for most of yesterday, and then set free last night on a measly $2500 bail. My Grandfather picked him up from the authorities and was told first hand how they managed to completely ruin his life in less than 24hrs. My uncle being an extremely sensitive man was incredibly distraught for he had found out upon his release that the authorities had notified his place of employment that he had been arrested for terroristic activity, and they fired him on the spot. He worked there for 15 years and it was his whole life.

Well, this evening I received another phone call from my Mom, this time she was crying. She told me that my Grandfather couldn’t get in touch with him today on the phone so he went over to see if he was all right and found that he had committed suicide.

Those f-ing bastards mentally destroyed him yesterday and sucked his spirit and will to live out of him.

The trauma of the past two days was too much for his sensitive nature to handle and he just caved in. His job and the friends he had there, as unimportant as it may be to some, was all he had in life… and he just couldn’t take it.

I guess the reason I’m telling you guys this is because; what does this make us when we’re expressing our disapproval of our gov. When are more of us going to be rounded up, mentally fvcked with, and interrogated for our ant-gov opinions. If people, like my uncle, many protestors, and now even Green Peace are getting harassed by this new, completely undefined term “terrorist activity”… where is going to stop if this is only the beginning?

Today I am ashamed to be an American and truly feel as though things are falling apart. My Uncle will be missed by many...

I think you'll need to provide some more proof of what happened or I think most people are gonna remain skeptical of this story. I'm not saying it's not true, just that it doesn't quite ring true for me. A few more details would help.

What kinda of sicko do you think I am? really

You can choose not to believe it if you want, but it is the truth. What do you want me to do, post his death certificate when it’s issued?

My grandfather is going to request information from the authorities, interrogation details and what exactly was said on the forum. I’ll post more information and details when I get them.

This is my Uncle I’m talking about here and he was a real human being…

3D - I am sorry to hear about this.

For your uncle's memory don't let this go - start a website with the details of what he had posted. Draw attention to it, petition others to post the same thing - they can't arrest everyone.

Don't let them get away with it.

Even if the government made a mistake in accusing/arresting him (at least they didn't drag him through the courts for years), they'll never apologize or compensate your family for their actions. I know from a similiar case even after the accused cleared his name :dead:

DaveW, I'm not offended. This is one of those situations that is hard to believe and even harder to understand.

I will do my best to keep any and all details of this atrocity posted for you guys. I’m 3000mi away from where this happened as well as most of my family members that are now dealing with it.

I’m hoping that my Grandfather has the energy and the drive to hold them accountable for the false arrest and then some… he’s a war vet and has disliked our policy makers ever since he was shipped home on a stretcher from the South Pacific 60+ years ago. My brother is already thinking about a “letter to the editor” campaign to some of the popular papers like the NY Times… I will personally do what I can to assist.

Hey, to all you guys...Thanks for the positive thoughts.

Why its happened many times before? The government screws up all the time and isn't held responsible for their actions.

Just because you have been told by some random person on an internet forum that it happened that's enough for you to just jump into line? Do you I need to point you to snopes.com and all the false sh!t that storms around the internet?

Sorry my burden of proof is a little higher than that. If its true just link the obit and copy us on the letters to the editor and which ever "authority" was responsible. Don't tell me that a local paper wouldn't just love to jump all over this? Hell I might even know someone at a national newspaper that loves writing about these types of incidents.

If not fine, just don't expect me to get bothered by it.

It happens, that I know for sure.

I personally know someone whose life was ruined by false government accusations. He had to start all over again. His long established career was ruined and his family was almost pressed to the breaking point.

Luckily he is a mentally strong individual and he cleared his name in court after years of hard work. The government never compensated him for ruining his life as any other offender would be required to.

God bless America

So was your friend a law abiding gun owner persecuted by the Clinton administration? I may know him.

No it was a corporate crime accusation.

Gun laws don't hurt anyone.

It happened to Richard Jewell and it may have happened to Steven Jay Hatfill. But then there is a big contingent that would say Jonathan Pollard has been unfairly accused. I didn't say it didn't happen, I said I was skeptical with the lack of facts and the general feeling I get from it.

But then I guess because Saddam had tried to develop WMDs in the past, that Bush's assertion that he was developing them again should have been enough for all of us.

Gun lobby or the WMD assertion supported by no solid evidence has nothing do with this topic.

These are people who were guilty until proven innocent. Victims of scum like Joseph McCarthy.

It happens throughout US history.

Just look at how long it took the US to officially apologize and compensate the Japanese they falsely accused as spies and put in camps in WWII - it was almost 50 years after their lives were ruined and many were dead already...

Are you saying those two are innocent people that the government arrested and interrogated, ruining their lives to the point where they committed suicide? Or are you just being a dumbass?

Well I'm curious what your point was. Are you saying that the government needs to round up everyone who says something bad about them, and by doing this they will find some Timothy McVeighs? Sorry, I don't buy it. Giving incompetent power mongers more power does not change the fact that they are incompetent.

I may be too. But I didn't need to say that on the intarweb. I just asked him for all the details without accusing anyone of anything.

From that information, I'll do my research and (hopefully) be able to form an educated opinion about it.

I might have been more clear by saying, "if your story checks out, then I'll contact my representatives," but again didn't feel like being accusational.
