Follow all sorts of recipes and I just can't seem to make a good soup. I use Soup chickens I buy at the Public Market. I try to keep it simple and continue to fail. They taste bland and are the vehicle for the ingredients. I get bored with them and usually toss half of it out.

Fort of Rio Grande
2 oz commercial style chicken base
Chicken
carrots celery onion
pepper & poultry seasoning for spice
country style frozen egg noodle

if you like thick broth ad a finely diced potato to the boil.

I use this - better flavor than liquid stock and aces over cubes.

I like to use a bit of mushroom stock, adds a nice flavor. The more complicated route is to add a some porcinis. Mmmm porcinis.

Matso Ball soup from the Deli. Dad bought me a whole pound of Pastrami, a big ass container of Potato Salad, A bottle of Russian dressing, and a loaf of Russian Rye bread with seeds. It was awesome. Off the Sodium charts for a week.
