Well, I've gone and done it. I was kicking back yesterday, enjoying a little New Glarus Native ale, installing a new set of fat Avid Ultimate V-brakes (thank you, ebay), when >>tink!<< something popped into the darkest corner if my basement...

#@$#$%@!#@@!!

So I busted off the tab that the tension screw butts up against. Doesn't make any sense? Here's a pic:

Those little pins are the alignment pins that go into the brake boss. Good thing these brakes are made up of lots of inidividual pieces, so you can replace them when you mis-assemble it.

So now what? Ain't going to throw out these brakes for a little tiny piece like that. Avid doesn't list spare parts in the QBP catalog, and they've been no-responde to email thus far. Anyone out there have experience getting bits and pieces from SRAM/Avid?

Well, I'll answer my own question. Avid got back to me (took a couple of days) and promptly shipped me a replacement assembly. Great!

Then I went to install the other brake arm last night and >TINK<

Oh no I didn't
Oh yes I did

I wonder when Avid will start charging me for these damn things.

OMG! The *same* thing happened to me day before yesterday with my Single Digit Ulitimates! I replaced the pads on front and read and when I was readjusting arm tension on one of my fronts that blasted little tab broke off. I, however, was given the cold shoulder by SRAM when I called about getting replacement parts. They told me they didn't sell parts direct and I'd have go through my LBS, who, of course, can't seem to figure out how to find what I need.

Did you jsut call the number listed on SRAM's website? Was there someone in particular you spoke with? I'd really appreciate any info you can give me, 'cause right now I'm pretty ticked off at SRAM. Thanks man!
