Front Range, dude...
I once had a sheet that listed all the key combinations needed to make special characters like the degree sigb, umlauts etc. Any computer monkeys know where I can find it again?
Thanks...

how about the accessory called "Character Map"?

InDesign's got a neat feature called "Glyphs" that shows you the symbols and if you double click, it puts in where your cursor is.

Character Map is good but only works in applications that support fonts. It does not work when pasting into things like command prompts or any other application that does not directly support Windows fonts.

It causes problems with applications like AIM, too, that indirectly support the fonts but when you paste in the character map selection you need to then deliberately define the character as the appropriate font.

but it shows you the ascii code, so for those apps that don't support pasting, you just type it :)

eg.: ALT-0182 = ¶

Right, but it only shows you the keystroke for those few that support it - not all of them do (actually most of them don't) so you'd have to crawl through the entire table if you wanted a list.

The remainder that do not have an alt-code can be pasted, but again it is specific to the type of font you are using so pasting it in an application that doesn't support fonts (or pasting it in another font) will give unexpected results.
