I have a 2005 Epic, and I'm trying to remove the rear shock to have it serviced. I can't get the bolt out of the main pivot. I don't see any circlips, and before I press it out I thought I'd ask here to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Some dirt / never being removed had seized up the bolt, making it hard to remove. I had someone move the rear triangle through its motion while I gave a few harder smacks on the bolt's end, and everything worked out.

I know it's a simple thing, but you always want to be sure. I'm sure everyone who's done this before is rolling their eyes right now haha.

i'm rolling my eyes. :D

rubber mallet and a rod/big screwdrive generally does the trick.

though I recently had to remove a bent shock mount bolt AND bent hardware from on of my bikes. THAT was tricky.

I'm not too surprised an older bike is going to have some difficulty removing pivots. Keep in mind you should probably clean all the pivots every year, 6 years later is sub-optimal.
