I am thinking about getting a p.1. If i dont like the single speed, can i add a cassette to the rear (making it almost a p.3). Or should I just get a p.3 and sace myself the hassle?
thanks
well from what i know the p1 and p3 are very differnt in parts wise, the p3 having more and better parts and looks to me is set up for the hucking/jumping sceen and the p1 being set up for the urban/jumping sceen. so that being said it depends how much cash you are looking to spend. i would get a p1 personally and beat the crap out of it and it being so cheap that it wouldnt put a damper on my wallet when i had to replace a part or the bike itself.
zc
Ya, it really depends on what you use it for. If you're gonna be doing all urban and jumping then get the p1 cuz it's cheaper and has fewer parts to break. Also, if you get the p1, you can use the money you saved to get a DJ2 or DJ3 instead of the crappy EXR.
i ride a P1 and i have to say that i love it, even though it has seemed to be a money pit, i have put in over 1800 including the original aquisition cost. like all together. i love it, and the frame will take quite a beating. i love it alot, btw, the P3 is only sold in canada, not in the US.

Whoa... over 1800? What's the reason for that, just upgrading or are a bunch of parts failing and general maintenance? Or do ya just ride the hell out of your rig like you're supposed to?
My neighbor has one. Such a great rig for the money. I'm thinkin of grabbing one when I get the chance for a commuter/XC rides.
i broke alot of stuff, the first fork was about to go and a good deal came up, so i took it and rode that fork for a month until i ovalized the steertube and the headset, with a little oval of the headtube, ill get to that in a second, now im on a dj2, but the headset was thoroughly dea, so i decided to order up a steelset, since i just trashed a bmx headset. so i warped and bent both crank arms, so i got some tubular cromo FSA x drives, and a kink OG 33 tooth. i have got ma hookworms, a new front wheel cause of the whole 20mm dropouts thing, a snafu seat after bending the seat rails horribly, got new bars, the stock ones i didnt trust, but im needing some new handlebars cause the left side of my current ones is bent. i have a front disk brake for it that i had on it for a long time, but its off right now. grips, it just adds up. i was bored on a rainy day and sat down and figured it out. i probably did leave out a few of the repairs.
