I want to move to BC!!!
Hi all,

I am decided on the SX frame after getting your precious advice as well. I came across however a new problem. Specialized UK still has the 2003 model and basically they wont bother to bring the 2004 in. The differences are only in color and damping on the rear shock. The 2004 is silver and comes with pro-pedal damping on the Vanilla R. From what i can tell, pro-pedal damping reduces bob a bit, but also reduces small bump sensitivity. Anyhow...a couple of bike shops in the UK told me that they can get me the silver one because they can have special arrangements by Specialized in order to get any frame in any color available in the world.... i dont know what to do and i am asking for your advice...again! :D

Go for the 2004 if you can afford it. Propedal is supposed to work really well and is the latest in shock technology.

Man thanks for the reply, but it is not a matter of affording it...it is a matter of availability....it seems that Specialized UK wont bother to import the 2004 model until April they say...the earliest...

Oy.

No offense, but "Propedal" is nothing more than throwing a few more shims on the slow speed compression shim stack. It's not even a little step forward in shock technology - simply another application of the currently existing shim stacks.

That's not to say it doesn't work great - it probably does. AND it's fewer parts to the shock, probably making it more reliable. Not to mention still one of the lightest shocks on the market.

But .. yeah. Definitly not the "latest in shock technology". Just a smart way of doing things.
