Hit 55mph on the C50 today. Did about a 2 hour loops from the office, and decided to skip one certain hill on the way back, which puts you onto the side of a highway for about 1/2 mile, down a freshly paved hill.

The bike was rock solid, even when I was spinning, and just smooth as silk while tucked. Super stocked on the bike. Fastest I've been in quite a while.

Nice! I'd like to one day hit 60mph on my bike, but the conditions never seem to be quite right.
If I'd had a 53-11, I bet I could have gotten pretty damn close. 50-12 isn't the speed gear. But at that speed I'll likely be coasting anyway...

I thought this thread was going to be about leg speed or something :p I'm glad you like the new bike, it would be a shame if it didn't ride (its a great looking bike)

I long for roads smooth as glass. Tuesdays ride found us coming down a horrible chip seal surface and maxing out at about 45mph but I thought I was going to lose my fillings.

Most of the roads I ride are chipseal. I've just gotten used to it, broke down and got 25mm tires, helps a lot.

Fastest I have ever gon down hill on the road is 60. Only did it on my MTB with slicks though. There is one corner near the entrance of a ski resort. The pavement is all rippled from cars braking to make the turn. I don't have the balls to stay off the brakes on the road bike and can usually only hit 54.

My regular ride is bumpy and choppy. I went from 23 to 25 to 28 with no loss of time, but increasingly less sore and tired.

Skinny is overrated.

I did 58 on the Blue Ridge Parkway once. Scared the beejebus out of me once I realized the penalty of fvck up.

Glad you're diggin' the new ride.
A blowout at those speeds could be catastrophic

I did put a slice into my front tubular last summer while tucked at about 40mph. Scared the living crap out of me.
Luckily it was a straight section, and I rode it out. It was touch and go though for a minute.

I hit 52 on a smooth downhill before running out of gear. Trying to pedal at hyper speed was just too much for me. I ride an 87 Vitus too. Lugged aluminum held together with epoxy. Skurrrry!

Congrats on the new bike!

We used to have a Vitus in my shop when I was in HS. My boss could shift to the big ring without using the shifter, just frame flex while pedaling...
