I was also thinking of buying that light.

Any problems you've had with it? How's the helmet mount...easy to adjust and move around?

I think I almost like the spot better than the flood

The flood is plenty wide, I guess what I'd really like is a chance to compare the two. The flood does still have a pretty warm center, it's not as diffuse as you'd expect a flood to be.

The helmet mount is the weak point. You have to custom fab something. They only provide a velcro mount, and the base of the light is concave.

My battery has decided to act up lately. The last two rides it has died on the trail in just over an hour. Using the supplied quick charger, it is supposed to take 1 1/2 hours to charge. Prior to the night ride at KT, it was plugged in overnight, and had the same result. It is going to have to go back for warranty. :(

I don't think there's a problem with the wiring. My complaint about the beam is a matter of personal preferance, not really a complaint. You saw the lamp in action at KT Doug, would you really say that it had any problems?

Here's a pic of the mount I made, it's the Y shaped piece of plastic zip-tied down to the helmet, the light goes right on with the velcro piece at the junction of the Y.

Holy huge picture Batman, linked instead - http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f226/BadDNA/DSCF0110.jpg

Nam I am
lets talk about Nite rider problems then ?

I Have 2 HIDS fail on Me , one being replaced , one repaired 3 times ( 2 by by me once by Nite rider )
I have a Trail rat , it has failed and been repaired by me.

quo_fan has an HID failed on a ride , we did trail side repair.

at $450+ I'd expect better quaility , and after all that I don't like Nite riders Mount , that I motified it to make it custom, so did Earl for tree saw.

I'm at just about 1 year of use with my light, I've had no problems related to the product itself since I bought it. I've undercharged the battery or just forgotten to recharge it and run out of juice, but the construction is solid. I'm a bit of a tinkerer by nature so I moved the switch location in the wire harness to a better spot for me. I also fabbed up my mount in just a few minutes in my basement. for a shipped price of less than $200 you will not find a better lighting system IMO.

'05 storm, purchsed at wheelworld.com - sometimes if you call they have special lower prices then what is on web

This is the Helmet version of our HID lighting system. 4 Straight hours of light at bright and white as the sun, mounted on your bike. When one of these babies is on the trail, everyone notices! Brilliant blue-white 6000 degrees K light makes the trail like daytime. No need to compromise your riding technique - just go for it! Combined with a NEW 3.5 hr MicroBrute charger and 27 oz 4.0Ah NiMH battery pack, this is the last light you will ever need. Using only 1/3 the energy of equivalent halogen lights, this system runs longer and burns brighter than any other Niterider light system. Metal Halide High-Intensity Discharge light technology is now ready for prime time. NiteRide's HID package puts the ballast inside the head in one small, efficient, light weight package. This light is so powerful that Baja 2000 race teams used them on their motorcycles! (You can use it on your offroad bike, quad or buggy too! Mounts available for other uses) Features List 10 watt Metal Halide Arc H.I.D. lamp, with light output equivalent to a 40 watt halogen bulb NEW MicroBrute™ 3.5hr Charger 4.0Ah Nickel Metal Hydride battery Multi-Position Helmet Mount Flat style battery pack designed to fit into a hydration pack or jersey pocket NEW Zippered Travel/Storage pouch Battery weighs 27 oz Black | Storm HID Head

I've never had a light fail on me, but I've burnt through 2 bulbs. And at $100 bucks a pop (no pun intended), it sux0rz.

And as for my opinion on spot vs flood. Flood all the way. I bought a spot and returned it for a flood. The spot beam too focused and actually seems overall dimmer (except for the small spot, of course), IMO.
