ISIS vs. Shimano

Are there benefits in going with one over the other?
The only benifit is flexablity

To use a Shamano ES70 BB you can only run XT or LX cranks
XTR,Dura Ace and Ultegra BB's will fit only XTR cranks
ISIS you can use Race Face, Tru Vativ, Kooka, FSA etc

Yeah, but why? :D

Seriously, ISIS gives you the possibility of utilising a system that will allow you to use something other than Shimano. The splines on ISIS also go deeper into the crankarm - some folks contend that this is stronger. What do I know?!

I have lx splined cranks and I beat the crap out of them on a regular basis. I shattered a es-70 bb spindle on a huge stair gap to flat concrete with a hardtail. The only problem was that the spindle was too thin. It cracked in the middle and ended up in 4 pieces. There was no problem with the bb/crank interface and I haven't seen any wear or damage in that area. The arms are incredibly strong and stiff for their weight and price and the bb spline is a good design. There are just more options for bb's with extreme strength with Isis.
