Exclude Raiders games and you can pretty much count on being able to take your family to a sporting event in the US w/o fear of death or dismemberment.
Certain games with heavy rivalries can get rather baudy in the stands (sox-yankees, Giants-Dodgers, Packers-Bears[in Chicago] ) but other than that, its fairly mellow. You stand a far better chance of being exposed to violence in a fight at the local pub.
But....as ridetoofast said, "that wasn't the point".
That is a rather localized phenomena. You don't see it when a team like New England, SF, St. Louis, Denver or Dallas wins a Superbowl, but Raiders fans riot even if they lose. But then that town is a war zone even when the Raiders aren't playing.
People rarely get that nutty about baseball. I think there was some revelry in the streets of Boston after they won the World Series, but nothing that could be called a riot. Yankee fans dont riot. I think when Aneheim won the world series they had fireworks at Disney and not much else.
As for Basketball again, depends on the city. Detroit - riot. LA - riots in certain areas but not others, Chicago, nope.

i´ve been to a lot of stadiums in lots of places, and from my experience i rank:
that the argentinians are by far the wildest, along with the 2000 cops securing the venue so Boca Jrs. hooligans dont beat the crap out of every car, house, non-boca fan on the way out of the stadium, and thats EVERY GAME... truly, the hardcore ones are kinda messed up in the head.
and the american fans being the most civilized, where you can take a kid, buy a hot dog and park your car near the stadium without having it torn down...

Dude, the only thing more boring than soccer is golf.
Soccer is the only sport I know where two teams can end the game 0-0 and they still get points in a tournament. HUH?
C'mon you pansies, either keep playing till somone wins or you BOTH lose.
I used to listen to an AFA radio station "back in the day" (when I thought a Christian was suppose to be judgemental and critical of others...........) I can't stand it now.
Where does Jesus say His followers are suppose to belittle those around them?
