I frickin LOVE having a machine shop at my disposal...

I had someone at work modify my Sportworks. See, the Liberty has a hangy-off the back spare tire right? Cherokee does not. So the sportworks wouldn't fit.

So yesterday, I had our shop foreman lop off the sticky-in part and weld on a longer one. I was a little disconcerting clamping my rack into the saw. But he did a really nice job. Painted all purdy too.

Maybe I'll post pics later.

BUt it took about 45 mins, and din't cost me a cent. gotta love it...

Why were you concerned? All he did was essentially cut and reweld a longer piece of square tubing, right?

It isn't rocket science. :D And if you are concerned about your shop forman's welding ability it makes me question your faith in him fabricating these track adapters and mounting them to vehicles. ;) :)

Either way it is nice when you can modify someting to fit a new application. Well have your lackies do it anyways.....j/k :thumb: Throw some pics up!

How's the de-americanizing of the family doing? :D

So can't you just post a pic from the Sportworks site since it just has an extension. I get a little more excited when our new system actually works, but since I can weld I guess I lack enthusiasm.

Now that I am done belittling you, which I should not have, but refuse to backspace since I initially thought this, congrats on being happy with it. That is the important part. I get excited over so little these days that it is nice to see someone actually pleased. Good job. Oh and nice maintenance trucks.

MMike, I was worried about carrying 4 bikes on mine at max capacity. I even bent the safety pin, so my first step was to strengthen the first welded piece. My next step will be to add a brace sticking up from the back of the 4th rack and tying it into my load bars on the top of my truck with a couple of strong tie downs. (making a lot of the weight on the rack supported for heavy loads) anyway here is the first fix.
