If you cannot find someone to swap with you, check out Renton Coil. They make all of the Ti springs for Progressive and can probably hook you up for cheap.

I got a FOX VANILLA RC with a 700x2.8.
I think I'll need it softer since right now it has no preload or compression on it.
I know I can get one off ebay that is 650, but I would rather go local. Why aren't there big bikeswaps like skiswaps?

There is a seattle bike swap. Every year around first of feb. Used to be mostly old roadie crap but had a lot of mtb stuff last year.
As for your spring, set the spring weight based preload. You should have 20-40% sag when you are sit on your bike. If you don't have any damping, you have other problems.

Theres a buch of rocks in the gravel pit... Go fill a backpack till the spring feels fine... think of how much stronger youll be packing all that weight...
