Is it possible to lenghthen my SRAM PC-69 chain (brand new) with links from a different model SRAM 9-speed chain? My local shop has extra SRAM links they are willing to give me, and I would rather use those than have to buy another new chain. I just want to know if there are any compatibility issues. Thanks.

dude, i believe you, but the cassette and chain are both brand new. i was just stupid and shortened the chain too much and lost the extra links. any ideas?

A PC66 is only $20.00. :thumb:
Don't trust him, SM is part of an international bicycle chain cartel, he is only trying to reap the profits of premature chain replacement by spreading a campaign of propaganda!

I say give it a try then... if the links look incompatible they probably are. The major differences are going to be the material anyhow... nickle plating and so on.

I have done this a few times before and chains with links from as many as 3 different chains have been ok. As long as the width is the same they will work.
