SRAM derailluers with road cassettes?

I was going to run a dura-ace cassette with a X0 der and an X9 trigger shifter on my new bike. Then I saw that video of the SRAM der vs the shimano der. Somebody commented that the reason shimano needs the B-tension screw is that their parallelagram is angled for a road cassette and when paired with a mountain cassette, the B-tension allows the der to move out of it's own way. This got me thinking. If the SRAM der is matched better to a mountain cassette, will it perform poorly with a road cassette?
Anyone using a SRAM 1:1 setup with road cassettes?

Yup...I've use a Med Cage X.0 on my DH bike with both SRAM and Dura Ace road cassettes. Didn't have problems. I use the SRAM road cassette all season last year and plan on running the same this year.

I ran that exact set up all last year. Either and X0 or an X9 derrailleur and an x9 trigger with a 11-23 road cassette. Shifted great all season. The B tension is still adjustable to get it where you need it on the Sram.

I'll be running SRAM on my DHR this year (Shimano road on my Rail). I'm glad you posted this question, I hadn't read anything yet about SRAM road stuff.

Oh - Post 1000, Yippee!

for dh racing with a road cassette, does the closer cluster of gear create a more streamlines set of gears and less stress on the derailleur.

I guess that makes your chain shorter, does that help things?

on my Racelink, i have a 28t front chainwheel. I like the sram x0 or x9 derailleur and xo grip shift or sram triggers.

What size SRAM cassette would you suggest? 12-23 or 12-26 ??

thanks

Just like your front chain ring, this is totally dependent on the area you ride in.

It isn't super steep where I live so I'm going to go with the 12-26 and a 38tooth up front on my DHR. If I lived somewhere that was really steep so that I didn't need the easier gearing I'd want to run a closer gear ratio (12-23).

for what it’s worth…I run a 38T on the front of my DH bike and use a 12-26 SRAM PG-970 Road cassette. I can pedal pretty much every

I run that exact same combo and I like running road cassettes to cut down on the extra chain. With a 32t cass. in lower gears all that extra chain slaps around. No need for that.
