I guess you are talking about the big circular spring which holds the downshift trigger. It's pretty easy. I did mine a week ago or so. Lay the spring over the gear mechanism. One end must be placed in a small notch near the cable out hole/barrel adjuster. The other one, over the black plastic downshift trigger. It isn't hard to put it back together.
The hard part is engaging the plastic white belt with the red end (the one which shows you which gear you are on) in the central gear. Shift all the way to the 9th cog (all cable out, press the black downshift lever until there is no more cable to release). Then, place the spring as I said before (carefully, it tends to snap out of its place), and send the white plastic stripe all the way up to the 9 in the shifter window. Carefully place the top cap of the shifter on, and put just a couple of the screws on, fully screwed. Check the shifter for proper operation, put back the rest of the screws, and you are done.
