Does anyone have any feedback on the new Sram X.O shifters/derailleurs ? Are they worth the money or is the 9.0 SL just as good ?

they're really pretty, and every part down to the teeniest pivot is completely rebuildable. did i mention that they're pretty?

that being said, go for it if you have an extra $100 laying about and like gripshift. nothing wrong with that! just sayin...

My buddy has them on his bike. Can't buy them here yet but he owns a shop so he gets stuff. he likes it just fine. But there is still plastic on that bugger. I won't ever buy another plastic derailleur. Its just too fragile. Too bad because I prefer how it shifts over rapidfire and gripshift for shimano doesn't work so hot from what I've seen.

yeah, I prefer esp grip to shimano. The last shimano shifters I owned were top bar 7 spd xt. I loved them but times a changed. I have been running the 9.0SL esp for many years. I am getting a new geared frame and I want to be happy with the shifters since it is actually my secondary bike (my surly starts every morning for me) so I am looking to get good shifters that will not require too much attention. I would have to ride the X.O stuff to believe it is much better than the 9.0SL.

who knows, maybe it's time to give xtr a chance again...l

Your name is "1speed" and you're inquiring about derailleurs. Ironic. ;)

Well, like I said this is my secondary bike. I have done only 2 geared rides this season but I do have a couple big trips planned that I will need a geared bike for. believe me, the surly is my favorite ride :) and she gets all the attention... (not to mention I commute everyday on my town singlespeed) so, yes guilty of an occasional geared ride but it is rare indeed.

I've been riding them or about 2 weeks now on my DH bike. I came from an XTR shifter and derailluer combo.
all I can say is.....my gawd. Shifting Quality is Incredible. Better than XTR. They are worth the money, I'm going to put them on my next bike.

I just upgraded to the 9.oSL from 7.o and 9.o this week. 2 rides in and I can tell you I like this better. The action on this equipment is all in having the shortcage derailleur. I ride the halfpipes because I fubar'ed my wrist last year. Without the halfpipes I wouldn't ride a bike. As for the X.o's the weight loss is not really that much. I'd still like to ride them but my money would do better in getting next years fork if I wanted better performance and weight loss on my bike. (that is why I ride 9.oSL)
