First of all I'll admit that I'm a pretty big newbie at wrenching.
Anyway, the other day my cable snapped (which was a shock, and a bit of a bitch to get home in 38*11 on the DH bike, uphill and unfit) so I plan on changing it.
My problem arises when I have to "carefully unscrew cable change cap from cable entry with a screwdriver." This screw is made out of plastic and a very soft one at that. It turned maybe once but I can see that it's only a bit more pressure than I'm currently applying from completely stripping the head.
I'd give SRAM Australia a call but they seem to not exist any more (seriously, someone please try to find contact details, I could swear I've talked to them before but I don't know how)
So yeah, if anyone has any ideas on how to get it out without destruction that would be super. Also if someone could tell my why on earth there is a plastic screw on my $100AUD shifter I'd be happy too.

That little plastic cap that covers the end of the cable?? Just take a small screwdriver bit, screw a hole through the middle (very carefully), and tear it out with a piece of wire or a coathanger or something.

You can put a piece of duct tape or silly putty or whatever on afterwards :p
