I’m heading up there In a week. Gunna spend a week near Stanley and a week in Ketchum. I know of some trails in Ketchum, I really need good recommendations for the Stanley area. I got the family with me so I can only get so many rides in.

I also got a motorcycle as well so if anyone knows of a great moto trail, that would be appreciated.

Did I say Thursday? I meant Friday.
Ya I’ll be in Stanley on Friday, I’ll be in the area 2 weeks. Campsites willing of course. My kids are young and the women doesn’t ride. So ya I’m down. Cell service is spotty there so I’ll post up my campsite here when I get one. FYI I’m slow uphill. But I got some weed.

Yeah I think we can swing this, I am not in a hurry and am good for 26 miles and 4k climbing if we take a relaxed approach. These loops I found aren't that long - maybe we could ride little/big casino? I have a buddy who is Boise local getting me some intel also.

We rode Fisher Creek - The climb had a nice 75 yard scree field that had about a 20% grade. The descent's technical aspect was the deep dry beach sand consistency of the outside edge. Other than staying off the edge, just pinning and the occasional rock or root, not really anything to catch air off. *some sweet berms and creek crossings also

I'll be in stanley the end of august. Find any trails with rocks?
Elk mountain has rocks. I also did the trail out at the end of lake alturas on my motorcycle. It was really rocky and ended up too steep for the motorbike. I also went up to "boulder city" on the motorbike. Its by ketchum but is the most rocks ive ever seen on a trail. More of an atv/jeep trail. But if you wanted a sufferfest and the rockiest downhill ever.........

It was good haveing you and thanks for showing up. That ride kicked my ass, ive never had such wobbly legs. After you left my kid held up the nearly empty bag of dried apricots. She suffered no ill effects though so i guess she has an iron gut.
Growing up on the border must be good for the gut/immune system. Next time I will bring my kiddos and we can watch the trainwreck. Should be fun.

Those little monkey things are awesome. I see guys rallying around on boulder nightmare roads here with those things.

Wasn't doing inside dining this year but I did buy lots of gas and beer from them. That water station across the street by the airport kept us alive for about 2 weeks.
I ate outside, it felt relatively safe, workers wore masks and I saw them regulate on people trying to not wear them. They got a dam good burger, totally worth the risk for me at the time.

Nah we were camped out on the next drainage south of smiley, pretty much the headwater of the salmon river (itty bitty creek at that point). There's another trailhead at the end of that road that was good access.

Even days I rode my mountainbike, I still rode the moto.

trails......every direction......for miles and miles......trails.......

Happy place.

I will be in Ketchum for 4 days, where do I ride?
sunnyside trail is cool. There is a flow trail and others near there that I can’t remember the name of. At least in Ketchum. Me and @boostindoubles did one north of there in the sawtooths that was good but I can’t remember the name. Maybe he can chime in.

We rode the classic Fisher Creek loop. It's a non-technical, swoopy descent. Fun times though!
I think I was going to suggest that, but it's also been ~8 years since I rode up that way and half I what I rode is now off limits wilderness...

edit: Looks like the loop we rode in that same spot as the Fisher Creek Loop was the 37 mile Antz Basin, which went up 4th of July road into now wilderness and came back down Warm Springs Creek, Pig Tail and Williams Creek, the latter is part of the Fisher Creek Loop.

that new boulder and white cloud wilderness bullshit fucked some things up

I walked down the top of the warm springs descent last summer.......fucking thing is abandoned. Trees down everywhere, trail mostly unused.
