Oh yeah.. and btw.
I tried to watch Clone Wars (new episode) a couple days ago....

I could not finish it... My kids came back home with my wife, and I had to switch to Peppa Pig.
Interesting thing is, I havent finish yet... I dunno, I didnt find it so good.

I finished Rebels today and now I am sad that I have no more to watch. It'd be cool to see what happens with Ezra and Sabine post-Rebels. I've read rumors about possible appearances in The Mandolorian.

I’ve been watching some episodes while mindlessly spinning on ye olde Peloton. E.

I sometimes do them. But my main goal is just zone 2 hours. Went Peloton instead of cheaper bike because the wife likes the classes/instructors.

Canceled the CBS subscription I was using for Picard and started Disney+ for Clone Wars and Mandelorian.

I'm now near the end of season 1 of Clone Wars. Still seems formulaic at this point, but then again it is the Star Wars universe...

I think it took at least the first season for it to get in it's groove, the first episodes were kind of bland and shallow if I remember correctly.

I'm watching the Mandelorian. It's absolutely mind-blowing how this can be written well and the movies suck so bad. It shouldn't even be possible.

second season is notably better than the first, and 3rd is when it really hits its stride. by the time they hit the 4th season there were very few "standalone" episodes. most were 2-3 episode story arcs, and a few were 4 i think.

Is there much to be gained by watching the first two seasons? Is it feasible to just skip to the 3rd? would much detail get lost?

nothing really of significance. mostly character introduction and such. helps to build out what's going on in the galaxy as the war gets underway

Interesting... while I agree the Mandalorian was entertaining, and the writing is definitely better than most of the movies, the writing is still a bit "meh" IMO. My wife is a Star Wars fan, generally, and she bailed out after the 2nd episode - just didn't interest her. I stuck it out and enjoyed the series...

Compared to the movies was my criteria. Rather than trying to tie together endless plot holes and introducing exponentially more in the process, the Mandelorian doesn't try to reinvent anything and moves in a good direction (there's no giant death-star/planet killer thing again that I'm aware of). I think this too had to get going, the first episode was pretty bland, but it got better. Especially liked the episode with Bill Burr.

Ok, mostly the Mandelorian is pretty good, but this bugs me, like 20 feet away. I mean, come-on, I know Storm-trooper accuracy was bad, but I expected better of you guys:

I've got two episodes of the final Clone Wars season to get through. I've seen people complain that the final season wasn't exciting enough, but the first eight episodes were fine. Basically two story arcs played out over four episodes each. I enjoyed them. I've had the Revenge of the Sith movie playing in the background each of my last two work days so I can get a refresher, since the events of the final episodes of the Clone Wars run concurrently with it. It's kind of cool how those tie together. I haven't watched Revenge of the Sith in years since episodes I and II were such a disaster, but this one is better than I remember it. They shouldn't have killed Grievous though. He's a good character. I'd have liked to see him resurface in future movies/shows.

I've got a problem with Palpatine's lack of concern over his disfigurement at the hands of Mace Windu in this movie. He went from looking like a normal old guy to looking like a rotten plum and he doesn't seem to mind it. I'd be like "WTF did you do my face!!" and would need some time to process that and probably seek some medical treatment.

I first watched star wars at age 25 i think.
I made the mistake of watching episode 1, 2, 3 and so on, ending with return of the jedi.

Now am a big star wars fan. What would I do?
Start with a new hope. Darth Vader comes across as a whiny bitch you feel sorry for in my prequel-first perspective instead of the menacing villain everybody else sees.
Now, Darth Maul... that comes across as a villain (he is my favorite SW villain btw), but you are left wondering.. wtf happened here? (until you watch clone wars and rebels).

I'd say. Episode 4, 5, 6... then 1, 2, then clone wars (the filoni version), and finally ep3, revenge of the sith, and then rebels.
Dont bother with ep 7,8 or 9.

The prequels make a whole lot from sense with clone wars (which I think is the best star wars material).

i recently rewatch the prequels and they made so much more sense (plots & characters) having recently also rewatched clone wars. i think one of the reasons the prequels were less well received (other reasons notwithstanding) is that they felt all over the place with not enough context. almost as if they were trying to tell too much story in too few movies

Although they went off the deep end in some respects with things like the Jar Jar, the prequels did try to keep some kind of continuity between them AND the 3 original movies. So everything was connected.

When they got to the most recent 3 movies...it was just shit story going in a million different directions that didn't make any sense, culminating in the last one attempting to reign in all those crazy directions with "answers" for all the plot holes...which made it just insanely stupid. They were all about the special effects and making something for kids with cute robots, the story line was all over the place. Prequels didn't suffer from this IMO.

when the cgi in prequels looks shittier than the models in the original movies....you are fucked.
