I had my ride inspected today for safety and they even checked the seat belts. I was impressed to see that. I am also in amazement that so many people have a huge aversion to paying the huge fee of $12.50 to have this done.

Does your state require annual inspections?

I still say that $29 is reasonable. I asked why people minded paying the $4 a year for a driver's license and everyone felt that it was, without question, a daily requirement and that it is basically owed to them to drive.

I appreciate a car enough that a monthly fee would be worth the while.

Maryland sucks a big ....

We have 2 inspections, safety and emmisions. The safety inspection costs 1/2 hr of shop labor, to be determined by the shop, so it varies shop to shop. Usually it works out to be about $50. The emmissions test is State operated. I think it costs about $20. Registration costs upwards of $200 / 2 year period. *$*@ing money grubbing s*^&loafs.

But we only have to get the safety insp. when the car is sold not every year or 2. I personaly think that there should be a yearly insp. on cars. People forget to do regular maintence on there cars that can cause problems Like losing your brakes.

Really? I didn't know that. I've just barely lived here two years and neither vehicle has been up for a registration renewal. I've always wondered how some of the clapped out vehicles I've seen could pass an every-other year inspection. That explains it then.

I have a friend in PA and it isn't the inspection that is the killer it is the crook mechanics.

Had new brake pads self installed 2 weeks before taking it in to the inspection.....first words out of the mechanic/inspectors mouth was "you will need new brake pads":disgust: :brow:
