Thought it was pretty good. Bush will get reelected. Kerry is OK, but i like bush a bit better.

We had a poole in my office though.

I guessed he would use the word "terror" 9 times. Others guessed around there.

He used it 22 times.:p

Of course he did. He has to remind the American people to be afraid.

a friend said it best...

Something that is brilliant in its simplicity is the fact that Bush can do all the fiscally irresponsible tax cuts Rove tells him to, and when they get repealed or expire it is "raising taxes."

No-win situation either way for Dems or Independents. A rather irresponsible way to go about business.

C-SPAN had the clearest picture.
FoxNews had the best relevant camera shots. I especially like when bush addressed the 10 year old girl's letter to him, and they pan to her (she was invited), and she's cold snoozin' in her dad's arms.

Oh, here's some fresh meat for you bush-haters: State of the Union Dictionary

After all this time, Dubya still can't pronounce "nuclear" to save his life. :p

I'm glad he brought up steroids as a national issue plaguing our nation.   Sure, it's an important character and personal responsibility issue but it was an awkward occasion during which to bring it up.

Acknowlegments to the military were proper and due but as far as fiscal policy goes, I thought it was a confusing trainwreck. Not very confidence inspiring for sure, but I'll wait and see how the numbers figure in his budget to be released in the coming weeks.

heres my state of the union for ya.
i think as a country instead of making all kinds of pidly little special interest ideas a serious concern we should maybe take a look at the path of our government. i mean we as a country instead of doing something about Bush and his government we just make jokes about it and laugh it off. well let me tell everyone something. who do ya think is really gonna get that last laugh when that illiterate election buying big business self interested Bush dynasty member gets re-elected this year. Bushs state of the union address was a horrible joke that touted the only accomplishment he had in the last 4 years. catching saddam. not looking at anything that was a complete and utter failure and disgrace to americans and what freedom and EQUALITY stand for. rant over.

Hold the phone...you have respect for Teddy Kennedy but not for President Bush???

Your post sounds just like the ones posted before Clinton was reelected. NEWSFLASH: They're ALL fuggin' serpents. Rhetorist politician swine SOBs...

Here's a little trend to notice- no matter who gets elected, there's still plenty of stuff that sucks for the press to bitch about and whip up the public ire over. A change in administration only guarantees a slight shift in who is getting fleeced and who benefits from the shearing.

then, this isn't your country. You might earn some respect if you actually laid out a defense for your opinion(s). To date, you've not managed to do it (damn database backup!). Errm, what "lies" have been bought into? (might want to spawn a thread - it sounds like you have convictions ladled out to you). And what part of the world worth paying attention to thinks we're a joke? Arrogant & wasteful i'll grant you. Perhaps this is what you meant?

Im going to laugh because he's the man I want for president. I hope you guys keep up your moaning and complaining with posts like the one above, because it gives me something to be annoyed about all day. Biggins. How about once in a while you just try tossing in a FACT somewhere in the midst of that mindless jargon you're always throwing down. Id really appreciate it. And when i say fact, I dont mean "Bush bows to special interests" unless you can support it.
This is political debate. In order to debate, you need to back up your claims.

JD, Im glad you feel sorry for me. I hope you still feel sorry when he's elected again. I hope you feel sorry for Saddam Hussein too.

So the President is ok?

You can't dislike the man, you spend a night partying with the guy and you'd very much call him your buddy.

So you like the President and now you like da man!

Now, you'll vote for him :D

This is my country based on the fact that I actually pay my taxes and am involved in the political process. Which is more then I can say about most "real" Americans. I find that the folks I know that complain the loudest and take that love it or leave it stance have amazingly little involvement in the actual political process. By the way I have served my country (US D.O.D. 1987- 1991 and recieved Veteran status during the Gulf War), how about you? Also remember that the Supreme Court had more to do with Mr. Bush becoming President then the Electoral process did.

I have met Ted Kennedy in person. He was sober and highly intelligent. He answered my questions in a way that impressed on me that he knew what he was talking about. My impression was that his agenda was to serve me not himself or his "cronies". He in my opinion is a great man and that his record for his constituents is speaks for itself. Nobody in our Goverment cares more for you then him.

No WMD's or active links to terrorists have been found in Iraq yet here is Mr. Bush telling us that they exist. Again. The bad intelligence argument only goes so far. Time to put his money where his mouth is and truly define Terrorism. Granted Saddam was a bad man.....but our track record isn't all that good either. Are France and Russia going to step up to the plate and invade us? We have used WMD, have WMD programs, and somesay links to Narco-terrorists (the Kurds in N. Irag as an example). Wouldn't some country be "right" in invading us based on our criteria for the invasion of Iraq?? Might isn't always right.

Those silly Europeans with a better literacy rate and a higher standard of living then ours think we are silly and that we force them to fall in line behind us based on our might......jdcamb

Huh?? I can't see where you are going here but.... I don't like the President and have respect for the office. I can dislike whomever I want and do. You or I didn't vote for him anyways but I most certainly wouldn't vote for him in the next election. Is that trap one of those bottomless pits of opine. JD, Im glad you feel sorry for me. I hope you still feel sorry when he's elected again. I hope you feel sorry for Saddam Hussein too.

how about all of the coal burning power companies emmissions getting reduced and causing seriously unhealthy amounts of mercury in the water sources of most states? how about when he appointed Ken Lay to a commitee that helped seat the board for the energy concervation council? How about the fact that they never have found weapons of mass destruction and never will. where the hell is osama bin laden? What about the tax cut for which i got nothing? How about his plan to let ILLEGAL aliens work here for three years and take the money to other countries while our own CITIZENS are jobless and starving he sure needs the spanish peoples votes to secure his election this year since buying it would seem a little suspicious 2 elections in a row.

no i dont feel sorry for saddam either. i think he needed to be taken out of power but the years of bush and his administration and their lies and scare tactics need to come to an end.

give me a little while to get back to this post and i will show you way more than this.

I didn't watch the speech but caught the transcript. I can read it in 1/5th the time it takes him to string together his akward sentences one syllable at a time...

The usual BS. Nothing notable, really, and lots to attack. I doubt the Democrats will capitalize on it, other than the make random generalized comments that are no more intelligent than Bush's. It'd be nice to see someone actually pick him apart, piece by piece... but I'm not holding my breath. They're too busy slapping each other limp-wristedly for "success" in the NH primary.

i think it would be a better idea to have a one term 6 year presidency, and force the people who run to be independants. i would hope that the presidency would mean alot more then, and things would actually get done for the benefit of the country which that office serves. but what the hell do i know......... i'm just tired of having presidents who are lackeys of 2 corrupt parties bogged down in innefficiency from greed. And tired of hearing rhetoric from state of the union addressess that insult even my extremely low intelligence.

To bad no one is independant...if they were, thenyou woud have a new party and that parties influence no different than the main 2 parties.

The two parties keep each other in check...for teh most part. Wesee fighting and inefficiency, but they are hacking away the extremes and meeting somewhere in the middle. For one group to have 100% control would be terribly efficient and down right scary. It also wouldn't be a democracy......

The SoTU address is all a pony show anymore. No one really heeds any presidents word as gospal. All we do is complain of this and that and others counter....yuck. no ones minds changed due to the SoTU address. Maybe I am being pessimistic
