does any one know where i can buy a steel head tube? I know easton sells headtubes but there all aluminum. help would be appreciated.

Get a Chris King Steelset and be done with it. Most places, Jenson, Pricepoint, Go-ride sell them for around 135. Had to buy one when I ovalized my head tube and they work. Think of them as a second head tube...
I'm guessing you aren't welding your own frame with my last post and just need to make your bike less prone to ovalizing...
No guys im not building a bike Its just i have this thing its like a cross between a mini bike and a dirt bike but it uses dh forks so i need a new head tube for it.
i just put it in the dh forum cause i thought u guys would know and i need some thing strong.
could i order them from bmx companys? or like dirt jump compnys or would i have to find some one that sells them.

i think surly sales frame part and you can probible get the instigator headtube. that thing is strong for sure
You can buy precut headtubes for road bikes but they are way too thin for anything aggressive. What you want is some straight gauge 4130 tubing. Wicks Aircraft or Aircraft Spruce can sell you what you need.
1.5 x .083 is really the only size that works. It leaves you just a little bit of material to ream out after the frame is done. If your headtube needs to be thicker, you'll need to braze on some reinforcing rings.

since you're making it yourself why not just make the headtube yourself, Mr Handyman?

Why don't you quote the whole post. It clearly states that he is looking for a HEADTUBE in order to modify a frame. Sounds like he's trying to put a shiver on a 50 or something similiar.
And you can remove headtubes and replace them with one of a different size if you know what you're doing. I've done this to a few old 1" frames including a Merlin.
