Dunno if this is new or not, but it's the first I've heard of it.

Apparently, stem cells also exist in umbilical cord tissue.
Exciting stuff, maybe we won't have to farm dead babies to do research that may result in nothing at all.

stem cells also exist in adults. the problem is that a stem cell is not a stem cell: not all stem cells have the capacity or the inkling to differentiate into all (or any given) tissue type(s).
