i was pulling for sam but peat is just as suitable. Congratulations to him I didn't realize he was so consistant this year I thought I saw Sam up in the top 3 more often.
the season this year is quite mad, just realised they had 5 world cups in 5 weeks, thats tough going, congrats to peat though, he missed on so many overalls in the passed with injury etc.
I agree with the above, I eman the first WC is in June, sure you can start racing by the end of April ?? silly to push 3 norbas and 5 world cups in a month and a half, thats like nearly 2 thirds of the season's races, norba, world cup, world champs....13 races.
Great Britain's Steve Peat (Orange) was the only non-Maxxis team rider who managed to crack the top five, grabbing third and wrapping up the overall World Cup title in the process. Peat has an insurmountable 263-point lead over Australian Sam Hill (Iron Horse-MadCatz), who finished a disappointing 38th and promptly rolled out of the finish corral.
"I knew at the top that a few people had crashed in the steep section," explained Peat of the information that led him to switch to spiked tire up front just minutes before his finals run. This is Peat's second World Cup DH series title. He also grabbed the crown in 2002, closing out the year with a win at the finals in Les Gets.
The World Cup circuit folds up its tents for the next two months, giving way to national championships, the NORBA series, the Olympics and the world championships; then reconvenes in Livigno, Italy for the series finals September 18-19.
I wish I had done the same at Snowshoe before my race run. Wouldn't have won anything for me but would have helped out.
Spealing of mud...I just watched the bonus footage on Plush2 from Durango last year. The steep section where everybody was opting to toss their bike to the bottom and butt surf a good 100 yards down the bank was hilarious!!! Nothing like 2 women on their butts in downhill armor giggling in glee as they slip/slideo n their fannies to the bottom together. Good Stuff!
Hey, we're bragging a bit here but we are very happy for Steve as he is on our 5th Element shock. Last year was tough for him but I'll never forget him coming into the last turn at Durango, sliding out, somehow saving it and still got the overall!
