McCain Official Busted on Sex Charge
July 12, 2007 11:33 AM
Justin Rood Reports:

An official with the John McCain presidential campaign was arrested for allegedly soliciting oral sex from a policeman in Florida yesterday.

Bob Allen, a member of the Florida House of Representatives, is one of six Florida co-chairs for the Arizona Republican senator's 2008 White House bid.

According to news accounts, local police in Titusville, Fla., arrested Allen Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly offered to exchange $20 for oral sex with the plainclothes officer.

Allen was charged with solicitation to commit prostitution, a misdemeanor.

Allen has said he believes the charges are "a very big misunderstanding" and "disgusting." If convicted, he could face up to a year in jail and a $500 fine.

McCain's campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday morning.

Titusville police told reporters Allen caught their attention after he drove through the town's Veterans Memorial Park twice and went in and out of the park's bathroom three times. On his final trip to the bathroom, a plainclothes officer followed him to investigate. Allen made his solicitation through the door of a men's room stall to the officer, according to police.

McCain named Allen and five other men co-chairs of his Florida campaign in March.

"These men are respected leaders in their communities and have real experience wrestling with the important issues of our day," the Arizona GOP senator said in a press release announcing the appointments.

McCain's presidential ambitions have had trouble of late. With less than $2 million on hand, the campaign lost its manager and chief strategist on Tuesday. McCain has denied the departures were part of a "shake-up."

Allen's arrest is the latest in a small burst of unpleasant mini-scandals for presidential campaigns. Two days ago, the southern regional chairman for former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani's presidential campaign admitted to using a Washington, D.C.-area escort service; three weeks ago, Giuliani's South Carolina co-chair was indicted for cocaine possession. He has pleaded not guilty.

Amazed this is the best of the 'pubs, and I do not look forward to the hate, spin and bs that is forthcoming in the next election, when so many Americans just want a responsible government that helps its people and reaches out to the world.

I think we're too far gone though...

Wow, that list is almost like reading the Bible. It's full a laundry list of capricious demands, and a couple of them directly contradict each other.

oh, thanks for reminding me: every courthouse at the county seat should have an altar & a healthy availability of goats for ritualistic sacrifice. if no goats, then fags & minorities will do just fine.

better?

air is one thing.

rail, bus, and ferry are others.

international, regional, and local also have their own challenges.

so when you say "public transportation" do you mean all of the above?

I like the Portland public transit system. I think it works quite well as is. I would like to see the racks on the bus support a tire large than 2", though.

the buses here (all 8 of them) have a front rack which can accommodate up to two (2) bikes.

As amazed as I am that this prick is still in it, I will take the next 20 $5 bets that he will NOT be our next president.
