Yesterday was the third time my Kenda Kalientes let go on me in a corner. I love them otherwise, but they break free with pretty much no warning and they're completely gone (this was at 100psi).

My next set of tires will be different for this reason, but my experience with high-end road tires is pretty limited to "whatever came with the wheelset I bought". Can anyone offer up some suggestions for something reasonably light with decent treadwear and grip? Depending on the week, I ride 200-350 miles with a lot of mashing (road rides+bike messenger work).

How are the Hutchy toobless for wear?

Conti GP4000s stick pretty well, as do Sworks Mondos. You know it's a trade-off though--soft rubber sticks, but wears more quickly.

I had S-Works Mondos once upon a time, but they were roached within a month...maybe it's time to give the Michi's a try. BTI was having a sale...

Vredestein FTW.
I've found them at Supergo/Performance for $25 in colors other than black. Insane value.
The Blue/Black is a custom color for Performance, they buy a sh!tton of them a year, and always have specials on them.

The SE is what the Bissell Team trains on.

Michi Pro3s on sale at BTI...veerrry tempting.

Maybe I should stop railing corners like they're on a 4x track.
They can take it, and dish it back. I have no probs using them as a training tire.

One other thing might want to take into consideration. is how good it its grip when wet!

that is where I have found less drop off of grip with the Conti's GP's ( 3000 & 4000's ) .
By the time it gets wet here I'll need new tires...Doesn't rain in the summer.
