Sticky fork

So I have this new DJ1, and it feels really sticky when it goes through about the first inch of travel. It feels as if it is running low on oil, and definately should be plusher than this, especially right out of the box. I have ridden it for a few days now, and if it needed to "break-in" I'm pretty sure it would have by now... Anyone have knowledge in this area? Thanks.

I think "break in" time is much longer than a few days. It depends on fork. There is some chance that there is low oil level because Marzocchi like to save on it but if it has less oil it should be softer. This fork is for dirt jumping so it should be stiffer through travel. Try to adjust air preload and ride it more.

Yeah, I have the fork set up nice and stiff, it's just sticky still. Iono, I guess I'll try and ride it more and see if it starts to feel better.

Squish on the fork a few times, then flip your bike upside-down for a few seconds, then flip it back and squish a few more times. You can also try applying a thin layer of Slick Honey (or any suspension grease) to the stanchions. If this doesn't help either, there is a chance the fork was shipped with the wrong amount of oil, and there just isn't enough in there to serve as lube in the open bath system. The "break-in" period shouldn't be longer than one or two rides. Any longer than that and you're probably starting to break internals, not break them in, if it's not feeling correct.

My fork still feels like poo. And makes a rattling noise over small bumps at speed as well...:twitch: how do I fix this?
