what are the deciding factors on what post becomes a "sticky"

Sticky threads are generally announcements or specific threads that end up having long-term value. There was a member's picture thread for a while.

usually a thread that will be running and added to for quite some time like the southeast photo thread or Orvens underwear gallery.

Its completely arbitrary. A thread with great value, like the I Hate MMike thread, has for some unknown reason never been made a sticky. While some crap thread about a gathering of monkeys gets stickied. Its a travesty. Total travesty.

Thank god there's not a thread with pictures of sticky members. That's all I can say.
