I know I don't post here often but I just thought that this was creepy because I had this guy for band class. http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/news/020905_nw_student_sex.html

Doood - I had a SS teacher get suspended and later arrested in my 7th grade year for sleeping with a male student the year before. She was a married lady with kids too!

Then, when I was in college, another teacher we all know well (yes yes Mary Kay), from my school district had the same damned problem only she got pregnant!!!

messed up women's I tells ya that go for little boy tail...

Sick.

The really goofy part is that they frequently charge female teachers differently then male.
Someone explain to me why?
I think the feeling is that boys "want" it, and are able to consent more readily underage.

Now, I can attest that a boy that age does indeed want to have sex, but the issue is really about an authority figure with horrible judgement in the case of a teacher, in addition to having sex with someone who can't legally consent.

It may also have something to do with it would seem to be harder for a woman to "rape" or take advantage of an unwilling guy, then it would be for a guy to do the same to a girl. The other screwball part is, most teenage girls don't have ready access to bc, so easier for them to become pregnant with the teacher's kiddo and become a statistic for teenage pregnancy...

Then of course there's the stigma that Stinkle pointed out...boys "want it" and the whole "Mrs. Robinson" thing makes the guys that much more "cool". MILF and all that chit.
Girls, on the other hand, are viewed as being taken advantage of, and not of a level to match the lascivious intent of their teachers.

I had a teacher that I would have "hit" when I was 16-17.I guess it would have been wrong but I would have been all about it and not only would I had consented, but I probably would have gone after it with much gusto, thus if that had happened, and the teacher would have been prosecuted and not me, it would have been wrong methinks.

The idea is that the teacher is old enough to know better and should not abuse a position of trust. A kid is a kid is a kid.

I think it's a little disingenuous when people react with such disgust to the idea of teen/older-person sex. It's SEX; we're predisposed to it and generally can't control our desires (but we CAN control our actions, not excusing anyone's improprieties here).

We react with horror to the societally-imposed idea that somehow, things are different when someone turns the arbitrary 18, or that there's some reason we wouldn't want to **** someone just because we wouldn't neccessarily have common social ground for a modern relationship. "Modern relationships" are a societal construct...sex is primal. Some people may not find younger people (especially 13, which really IS kinda oddball-young) sexually alluring, but I only start to draw the line of "pedophilia" when you're dealing with someone who's physically not mature or aware sexually...someone who can't understand the act of sex for what it is. That's a personal definition, though, and the legal and psychological definitions take obvious precedence.

Now, that said, I'm 110% with Fluff on the abuse of a position of trust. When you become a teacher or overseer of children, the very first thing you should know is where you stand vis-a-vis the children who are put in your trust. (My words above serve not to excuse anyone, but to point out the "whys" to people who seem incredulous...) Frankly, any adult should see the legal consequences of actions like this and be able to make the mature decision that this isn't good for anyone, especially given the societal contraints and norms we live in.

And there IS something very wrong with an adult who can't or won't control her/his personal urge for sex for the greater good of a child...even if that person ISN'T a teacher or in some other public position of trust.

Hmm,
Geez, if I were the parent I don't think it would matter.

How many teenage girls have crushes on their teachers, Id guess a pretty equal number as boys. The fact remains that a person put in a position of authority/trust has abused said position to satisfy their own perversions.

apart from having that annoying van halen song in my head, what makes you so sure she didn't have a happy ending?

given this situation is becoming more prevalent in these latter days, is there a link - even a tenuous one - tween this & porn? too much or too little? or maybe is the internets [sic:W] making the reporting of these offenses more prevalent, thus skewing perception?

either way, this ol' boy won't be having a proper go for a nice. long. while.
